Where are you located with your daycare?

I live off Hwy 10 and Hwy 242 in the Oaks of Shenandoah neighborhood in Coon Rapids.

Children attending Morris Bye Elementary School are picked up by the bus at the end of my driveway.

What are the hours of the daycare?

5:30 AM – 4:00 PM

I start early to accommodate parents’ schedules, but I also appreciate punctuality at pickup time.

What activities happen in a typical day at Junie’s Daycare?

I really love kids and feel honored and privileged to be able to care other parents’ children.

Each day has a variety of things that go on as I plan opportunities to keep the kids engaged throughout the day. I make it a point to celebrate each birthday to make the kids feel special.

Meals and snacks are eaten together as much as possible and are regulated by the Child Care Food Program.

When days are nice, I like to use my large back yard and fenced in play area to let the kids burn off some energy. In the summer, the kids might have fun water activities, take walks to the park or just run around in the yard. In the winter, I bundle up the kids and they might build a snow fort or play snow games. A summer highlight for my daycare is our annual 4th of July parade.

When inside, I have a large playroom where the kids will use their imagination to play dress-up or play a variety of games. There are plenty of toys and stuffed animals to entertain any and all comers.

During each day, we will usually have a craft that the kids will complete. I use the crafts to teach about holidays, history, letters & numbers as well as life. These crafts are taken home at the end of the day for the children to show their parents.

During our quiet time, we will all sit down together and watch an age appropriate video, read a book or listen to some quiet music.

As parents begin coming mid afternoon, kids get a second burst of energy as they are excited to see their mom or dad again.

How do you handle sick kids?

I go along with the Daycare Association rules which states (for the protection of all the children) if a child has a contagious disease or has a temp of 100 or more, they should not attend the daycare.

How is Junie’s Daycare different from others?

First of all, it is a home daycare and as a home provider, personal care is always a priority. I have strong traditional family values that are reflected in how I care for each child. My love for children allows me to give that special attention that every child’s needs in a safe environment that offers a greater sense of security.

What is my role with the parents?

Being a parent, I know how important and difficult it is in choosing a daycare. My role is not to replace the parent, but to support and encourage the relationship between the parent and child as much as possible.

When should a parent pay?

Payment from the parent is due every Friday morning which covers the following week.

How long have you been doing daycare?

I have been doing daycare for 18 years and truly love children. I love and enjoy seeing children grow and mature as they each discover life.

Do you have references?

Upon request, I would have a list to send you.
